BAHAWALPUR: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will inaugurate the Pakistan’s first-ever solar power project at Quaid-i-Azam Solar Park (QASP), Bahawalpur today.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif along with Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif will inaugurate the solar park’s generation in a ceremony at the QASP site.
The first-ever solar project have a capacity of 100 MW energy generation. The first unit of Jinnah Power Plant of QASP will begin generation power today. After the successful completion of two years, the solar park will be able to contribute 1,000 MW in national grid station.
The first unit – Jinnah Power Plant – having a capacity of 100 MWs energy generation has already been completed and will be connected to national grid station today. After successful completion of the project, it will be the country’s largest and one of the largest in the world. The project is expected to generate 1,000 MW by the end of 2016.
Chinese company, Tebian Electric Apparatus (TBEA) Xinjiang SunOais Co. Ltd is the contractor of QASP. 400,000 solar panels are the part of this park and was built at the cost of about $131 million. After completion, the project will generate more energy as compare to 550 MW of Topaz Solar Farm and the Desert Sunlight Solar Farm in California.
