Hides collection during Eid-ul-Azha
Friday, September 18, 2015 – Karachi—At least 5 political and religious parties and 4 banned outfits would be restricted from collecting hides of sacrificial animals during three days of Eid-ul-Azha. The authorities concerned have also been advised not to sanction permission to those 9 hides collectors so as to keep the prevailing peace and tranquillity atmosphere in Karachi.
The law-enforcing agency (LEA) has taken these steps and dispatched letter to the authorities concerned. The LEAs have also marks some 58 locations/areas in the city as highly sensitive with respect to expected deadly clashes for hide collection. These sensitive declared areas are located in city’s West, East and Central districts.
The authorities concerned would decide on the prevailing situation, LEAs’ letter of concern and issuance of no objection certificates to the hide collectors in the city on Friday (today). The LEAs have expressed their concern on expected armed clashes among the different hide collectors especially among those that are already a natural rival to each other.
Sources claimed that those 9 major hide collectors that could be restricted from collecting hides included Khidmat-e-Khalq Foundation – or KKF of Muttahida Qaumi Movement – or MQM, AlKhidmat of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan – or JI, Al-Razi Trust of Haqiqi group, Ehl-e-Sunnat Khidmat Committee of Pakistan Sunni Tehreek –or PST, Bacha Khan Trust of Awami National Party – or ANP, Ehl-e Sunnat Wa Jamaat – or ESWJ, Awami Amn Committee of banned People’s Amn Committee, Al-Rehmat Trust of banned Jaish-e-Muhammad Khuddam Al Islam, Jamaat-e-Furqan (banned Lashkar-e-Tayba) and Falah-e-Insaniyat Foundation – or FIF of Jamaatud Dawa, Sources privy to the situation have claimed that the authority concerned for the issuance of no objection certificates for the collection of hides have on advice of the LEAs decided not to release no objection certificates to these aforementioned 9 hide collecting parties and groups.
