Central President Jamiat Ulema e Pakistan (JUP) Pir Syed Ejaz Hashmi  and Milli Yakjehti Council Liaqat Baloch, in consultation with the central leaders of the MYC, said increasing confrontation between Saudi Arabia and Iran was spreading  to the Gulf states and no Islamic country would be saved from the negative outcome of the deepening Shia-Sunni divide.

Talking to media on Wednesday after having a telephonic contact with the MYC central leaders including Shah Owais Noorani Siddiqui, Hafiz Muhamamd Saeed, Pir Ejaz Hashmi and Allama Saqib Akbar, he urged the Muslim leaders to give up their differences and partiality and give preference to the interests of the Ummah.

Pir Ejaz Hashmi exhorted prime minister Nawaz Sharif to convene a summit of the Muslim states including Turkey, Malaysia, Indonesia, Emirates and Jordan to end the tension.
