LAHORE – The Jamiat Ulma-e-Pakistan (JUP) yesterday organised a seminar at Lahore Press Club to mark the 12th death anniversary of party’s former chief and leading Islamic scholar of his time Allama Shah Ahmad Noorani.
Jamaat-e-Islami secretary general Liaqat Baloch, PML-N leader Zaeem Qadri, PTI leader Ijaz Chaudhary, JUI-F leader Maulana Amjad Khan, JUP leader Qadri Zawar Bahadar, Shia scholar Hafiz Kazim Raza and other religious clerics addressed the “Imam Noorani Seminar” while the president of the party Pir Ijaz Hashmi presided over.
The speakers paid tribute to the religious and nationalistic services of late Syed Noorani. They lauded the JUP’s former head’s contribution in developing the constitution of Pakistan during 70s and his participation as central leader during Tehrik-e-Khatam-e-Nabowat, Tehrik-e-Nizam-e-Mustafa and other movements which started on various occasions in the past to establish a system of Islamic shariah in the country. Shah Noorani’s role in declaring Ahmedi’s as non-Muslim was also praised by them.
The scholars emphasized the need for unity among various factions of Islam which they said was the dream of Ahmad Noorani. They said sectarian violence was the main reason behind the recent decline of Muslim Ummah in every sector.
